The first Free School is just about to open its doors in London as pioneered by the writer and journalist Toby Young, along with another 24 up and down the UK.

A Free School in Tunbridge Wells? What's your view?
Free Schools are essentially independent schools set up by teachers and supported by Ministers, who say free schools are part of their drive to raise education standards across the country and tackle educational disadvantage.
The state-funded schools have greater freedoms than schools run by local authorities.
They are run by teachers, who can control the length of the school day, the curriculum and how they spend their money.
They are not permitted to make a profit and all funds raised must go back into improving education for pupils. Typically class sizes are smaller (less than 10 pupils) which admittedly sounds very appealing given my child is currently with 42 others at our local state primary.
Would you send your child to a free school if one were to open here in Tunbridge Wells? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this type of school in your opinion? A survey has been set up to canvas views here.
