My favourite hangout

I think this place has become even better since the produce store opened up where you can get all sorts of delicious grocery bits and bobs. We normally come for a mid-morning coffee here and the staff ever so friendly. It's become more popular in recent months and it doesn't surprise me at all.

The Wood Family welcome you to enjoy excellent food and drink in a warm and friendly environment. All our food is prepared on the premises with regional and seasonal ingredients, and we offer a varied menu which is available 7 days a week throughout the day, as well as the best Sunday Roast in town. A new evening Tapas & Platters menu is now also available - a very 'British' take on Tapas!

Woods Produce Store was opened alongside the restaurant in October 2009, and stocks an exciting range of regional and seasonal fare, including a range of Woods' own brand jams, marmalade and chutneys - which are also available to taste in the restaurant.

In October 2010 Woods received a West Kent Business Excellence Award for the Best Growing Business!

    Mouldy food

       

    I took my two year old daughter to Woods last week and ordered her a round of toast. It was only as she started eating it that I noticed that the underside of the bread was covered in spots of blue mould and so were all the other pieces. I took the toast straight in and told the waitress in front of the owner. The waitress apologised but the owner simply shrugged his shoulders. We were not offered any discount off our food and although I appreciate it was extremely busy that day my coffee took nearly an hour to arrive!

    I spoke to someone else who told me they have been served mouldy bread from there 5 times! Once was enough to put me going back as made me wonder if they can't check something as basic as bread before serving to a child that it is fresh then how fresh is the rest of the food? More though was the lack of interest from the owner who made no attempt to apologise personally which I find disgraceful. We have experienced slow service before and also a sharp rusty nail on the underneath of the table scratched my friends leg. These I could overlook but this was unacceptable.

    A regular haunt for us mums this is a great place..

       

    A regular haunt for us mums this is a great place to meet after school drop off. Comfy sofas and amendable staff who don't flinch for a second when barraged with six different preferences for a cafe latte! The recently opened produce store is fantastic with a wide range of organic and locally sourced food and drink.
