The Black Pig pub and dining room is known to by many of the residents of Tunbridge Wells as the best gastro pub throughout Kent. Their menu consists of excellently cooked and prepared organic meals and appetisers that has the taste of fancy restaurant food but with pub prices. The Black Pig as a pub is one of the more civilised drinking places with a brilliant selection of beverages in house.

I saw the Black Pig doing a demo at the recent Pantiles Food Festival and my partner and I vowed to visit the pub sooner rather than later, as (shamefully) we had never been before. It was a sheer delight from start to finish - the food is fresh, local, and delicious, the wine list expansive but reasonably priced, and the location is central. Lovely service - highly recommended.
One thing that is not in doubt at the Black Pig is the focus on quality. I typically go for the specials as I know that they are well thought out, genuine one-offs rather than something a wholesaler had on offer or something a chef has tried to throw together from a range of nearly out of date ingredients. While the Black Pig attracts the type of person that is willing to pay that bit more for food and drink, there is no stuffiness. The pub even uses the quirkiness of the muddled rooms and levels to good effect - something that as a more normal pub, the Orsen Wells (the Black Pig's former guise) never quite seemed to get right.

ReportI love this pub whether you're looking for a intimate dinner for two, a raucous lunch with girl friends or a loud family lunch this accommodating and welcoming pub fits the bill. The food is utterly delicious and atmosphere relaxed. Their bloody Marys and oh so lightly battered fish and chips are to die for!
