Today was opening day for the hotly anticipated (and equally dreaded, it has to be said) new Asda store on Longfield Road on the North Farm Industrial Estate
Oh YAY! Being an American living here in Tunbridge Wells I must say that I'm excited about this! I love shopping at ASDA's sister stores (Walmart) in America for bargains, so I'm looking forward to checking this store out to see what they have to offer. I am going to wait a couple of weeks though before I go to let all the hype die down first of course.....
Planning madness! Didnt know it had opened - had to get to Pembury hospital at about 2.30. With St James Road and Sandrock closed due to roadwork went via North Farm. What a disaster, road by Fountains solid, ASDA car park full, lots of old infirm drivers hesitating all over the place at lights, roundabouts, junctions adding to the mayhem (I'm 65). If it's like this on a Monday what the hell will it be like on a Saturday. Amazingly from where I live in TW it is quicker and easier to get to the PRUH at Farnborough than my "local" hospital. Oh for the days when I could walk to the K&S.
It's amazing, I know ;) The real story actually here is not the Asda itself per se, more the impact it's going to have on the already hugely over-congested retail park...
