School Holidays Tunbridge Wells 2010

The long school holidays are nearly upon us, and have already
-
Lazy Summer Days?
arrived for some lucky parents whose children are at Independent schools, and
the prospect of a two week holiday somewhere hot and far away may have you trapped
in a bubble of contentment and potential relaxation and I hate to burst that
bubble, but what about the other four to six weeks?
I have already warned my children that not every day will be
packed to the rafters with exciting (and expensive) organised activities, some
days will be about hanging out and entertaining ourselves... cue curious frowns from the kids!
We do have tennis booked , an expensive hobby, it’s no
wonder there are so few home grown champions when a week’s worth of tennis, (mornings or afternoons only) comes to £100 per child! They are on a swimming
course, we are going camping and then there’s our main holiday at the end of
the summer. There’s no question the
summer holidays are an expensive business and whilst I am going to tell you
about a whole host of organised activities and courses around Tunbridge Wells I
think it would be a kindly service to all the mums and dads out there to suggest,
at the bottom of this article, any free activities you have lined up. There’s the obvious organising picnics with class friends, spending
the day in one of Tunbridge Wells’ lovely parks loaded up with Frisbees, bikes,
scooters, skipping ropes, bubble machines, teddybears etc.
Or pick on a friend with the biggest garden and camp out for
the night, saving yourself the campsite fees at the same time as enjoying the luxury
of conveniences on your tent step!
If it’s raining why not set up cookery classes at home, fun
and free, although you have to have plenty of patience in reserve and remind
yourself that hundreds and thousands sprinkled all over the floor is not an
international disaster.
However, even the most saintly of mums, dads and carers will
be keen for and for those who are working, dependent on, summer courses. So please visit here to see the comprehensive
list I’ve put together.
