Cultural Baton
The Cultural Baton, designed by artist Nicole Mollett, is touring Kent leading up to the London 2012 Games to promote Kent’s rich culture and celebrate both British and International culture.
The Kent Cultural Baton is holding a range of activities for children and young people. Come and be inspired to create a tissue paper master piece with the help of artist Nicole Mollett. You can design your own miniature business card like General Tom Thumb, or draw clothes and colour in a dolly postcard. For slightly older children (6yrs and above) you can learn how to make a paper dress.
The baton’s arrival in Tunbridge Wells will be celebrated with a free, arts-based family fun day at the Museum to celebrate the fascinating collection of costume and dolls collected by curator Edythe Bradley, a resident of Tunbridge Wells and Curator at the Museum. Visitors can step inside and take part in a variety of exciting creative activities, and also visit the Museum and take part in a wide variety of activities, including face-painting, mini croquet, arts and crafts and a detective trail, all of which are free and run from 11am - 4pm. Children must be accompanied at all times.
The Kent Cultural Baton was created by Kent County Council’s Arts Development Unit as part of Kent 2012 – the campaign to maximise the benefits to Kent from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
