Railway station footbridge

Is anyone else fed up with the new walking route from platform 2 to the main ticket office exit? I find it incredible that they spend so much money refurbishing the station and adding ticket barrier, but forgot to add some new stairs from the footbridge directly down to platform 1. And why is the gate by the flower stall now shut???
