I had to find wifi access as my dongle wasn't working and had to traipse around Tunbridge Wells to find one.
I only found one at Weatherspoons but the Cloud wasn't working at all well and some of the pubs ie the Bedford had a sticker saying they had free Wifi but they didn't have it.
When I approached a hotel, they refused allow non residents to use it and they didn't offer any help about other places until asked.
In the end I couldn't find any Wifi at all in the evening.
Having no Wifi, is this yet another sign of Tunbridge Wells being in a timewarp, and this must be a nuisance for tourists and business people in the area.

You need Anke's Tunbridge Wellls Wifi map. I don't have the link but will hope he will be along soon to post it here.

You can get free WiFi at the Grove Tavern & enjoy a pint at the same time - best of both worlds!!

You couldn't be further from the truth, there is loads of free wi-fi points around Tunbridge Wells and more being added all the time. Have a look at my map everyone is mentioning and you'll see.

By the way, if anyone wants to add their free wi-fi to the map, go right ahead, it's fully editable by anyone.
It is harder to find a place in the evening as lots of cafes close and to be honest - if you are trying to work - a pub is not going to be very conducive :) The Royal Wells were very hospitable to me, I made a point of eating lunch there and stayed for hours.
Thanks for all this useful stuff. I will have a look at the website though it is mainly evenings that I may need to to use it. The Royals Wells is a good idea and I don't mind buying a drink when I get there.
Some of the pubs are ok to work in as during the week they can be quite quiet. I quite enjoy working 'with a bit of noise' in the background. Weatherspoons has tons of space but the Wifi is too unreliable.

The Trinity sounds a good idea, and also not too far away from the centre. Quite nice to go on your own too. Oddly enough we did go there just to pick up some brochures but we had lost the will to hunt for Wifi by that time... and we were so close. I wonder when they close the cafe though.

Sorry slightly off topic, for anyone looking after small children and trying to run a business at the same time, the free wifi at Our Space (indoor play centre) in High Brooms is a godsend in school holidays. You will often find me there with my laptop!
