THE result may not have gone their way, but one thing is for sure – football has well and truly arrived in Tunbridge Wells.

Some 404 fans packed into the Culverden on Saturday to witness Wells' FA Vase defeat to St Ives Town.

The all-singing, all-dancing support was certainly different – helped in some part by the vocal visiting fans. Here's what the Wells faithful had to say:

Ben Kemp only moved to Culverden Down in the summer, but has soon picked up on the positive vibe at Wells. He took his two children along on Saturday.

"I really enjoy coming to games like this. Being so close to the action, you can actually smell the turf. Unlike at these big grounds where your miles away from the pitch."

Brian Sampson is a die hard fan who has been watching Wells for 45 years.

"It's a very exciting occasion. Everyone's up for it and it means everything for a club like us to do so well in a nationwide competition."

Douglas Croker, is a volunteer at the club, selling merchandise.

"It's a massive game for a club like us. There's a massive crowd and they're really buzzing. It's a great atmosphere."

Graham Hover, of Kings Hill, has been coming for more than a year.

"I thought the atmosphere was good. Tunbridge Wells were unfortunate, but didn't take their chances. Overall, Wells deserved to win and they were unlucky to lose it at the death."

Hopefully, some of their new found fans will continue to turn out in force.
