Some 10,000 votes have flooded in for the Taste of Kent Awards 2013, the organisers Produced in Kent have revealed.

They say voting for the event has proved particularly strong in all the drinks categories.

This is including 'Best Kentish Beer', 'Best Kentish Wine', 'Best Kentish Cider or Perry' and 'Best Kent Juice Producer', as the reputation of the Garden of England as a centre of excellence for its wine, beer, cider and fruit juice grows year on year.

Likewise voting has been especially strong this year in the 'Kent Butcher or Meat Producer of the Year' as the county recognises the important role played by local free range meat producers and the high quality independent butchers in our local community.

Stephanie Durling, of Produced in Kent, said: "We need everyone to vote for their local food and drink heroes.

"Those dining pubs and restaurants using local produce and Kentish drinks, artisan food producers, wines, beer, cider and juice, as well as the retailers supporting Kent's farmers, fisherman and manufacturers and last  but by no means least, the county's fantastic farmers' markets.

"Don't be complacent for your favourites, get on line and cast your vote to make sure it counts and the best food and drink producers and retailers make it and become one of the three shortlisted finalists."

In addition to Vertex Law, the overall sponsor of the competition for the second consecutive year, more than a dozen other companies are sponsoring the individual categories.

These include brand new sponsors Shopper Anonymous who are backing 'Kent Artisan Food Producer of the Year', Chapmans of Sevenoaks who are on board with the 'Kent Fishmonger of the Year' and BTF Partnership who have aligned the firm with the 'Best Kentish Beer' category.

The sponsorship of Shopper Anonymous, BTF Partnership and Chapmans of Sevenoaks, adds to a long list of Taste of Kent Awards backers that include Biddenden Vineyards, Chapel Down Winery, Hadlow College, Kent Downs and High Weald AONBs, Kent County Council, Archant Kent Life, kff (Kent Frozen Foods), NFU Mutual, Opies, sff (Stephen's Fresh Foods), Wilkins Kennedy, Shepherd Neame and Visit Kent.

The Taste of Kent Awards is also delighted to have the media support of BBC Radio Kent, insideKENT and Archant KOS Media.

The Taste of Kent Awards Dinner will take place at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel, Hollingbourne on the evening of Friday 8 March 2013.

Tickets for the Taste of Kent Awards Dinner are £90 including a Kentish sparkling wine reception on arrival, a three-course dinner, wine, coffee, chocolates and the glittering awards night.
