Exclusive fine-dining establishment Thackerays in Tunbridge Wells has been re-assessed following its shock low grade for poor hygiene some months ago.

We reported back in July how Thackerays, owned by renowned chef Richard Phillips, received only two out of a possible top score of five by environmental health inspectors, meaning that urgent improvements were needed at the restaurant.

Thackerays insisted that the low score was a reflection solely on structural problems in the 17th century building on London Road that they already had in hand, and was in no way linked to food handling, preparation or hygiene.

And it appears that inspectors now agree, and, based on their checks last month, awarded Thackerays the top score of five out of five.
