Schools in Tunbridge Wells set to close next Wednesday
A grand total of 19 unions secured yes votes for striking against the government's public sector pension reforms. This means, along with five other strike mandates from the summer, 24 unions with over 3 million members will make the action the biggest strike in many generations.
Up and down the country polls have shown a fairly even level of support, with a recent one in The Guardian showing 47% of the population who think the forthcoming action was justified and 47% who do not.
This split seems to be reflected in Tunbridge Wells too following an earlier canvassing of opinion on Twitter. Mums who work or study appear the most affected - despite often agreeing with the sentiment behind the strikes but having to find expensive childcare at short notice or taking a day's holiday - along with children themselves of course, particularly older kids with important exams looming on the horizon next year.
Is your child's school closing on Wednesday? How will it affect you personally? Do you support the strike action? We'll add details of how to find information relating to which local schools are closing as and when available - or you can check out the KCC website over the weekend - but do post any you are aware of at this stage.
