CAMPAIGNERS who fought to keep the Robin Hood pub in Sherwood have said it is "fantastic" renovation has begun ahead of a reopening date in March.
The popular watering hole closed suddenly in August last year and residents feared their community's only pub would be turned into housing.
But pub chain Greene King bought the Birken Road site instead and has begun work revamping the building and grounds in readiness for opening a Hungry Horse.
The Courier understands the building will reopen on March 20.
Rankine Road resident Jojo Stanley, who campaigned to keep the pub, said: "It's fantastic the Robin Hood will be opening soon. It is a necessity for the community to have that social hub."
A spokesman for Greene King told the Courier it was planning recruitment days.
