BOXING fans in Kent will be able to witness a former Olympic champion boxer in battle when he fights at Bluewater for the first time next weekend.

James DeGale MBE will defend his European Super Middleweight title live on Channel 5 at the shopping centre's new £60 million events venue Glow on Saturday 13 October.

The 26-year-old boxer, won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is just one in a host of star boxers to appear on the fight card next weekend.

Also in action will be Chris Eubank Junior, the WBC International Super Bantamweight champion Kid Galahad, Tyson Fury and former British Champion Lenny Daws.

DeGale, who was nicknamed 'Chunky' when he was 10 years old, said: "I am over the moon with my new long term promotional deal with Hennessy Sports.

"I can't wait to get back in the ring on October 13th and show the millions of viewers on Channel 5 what I'm all about."

DeGale's new promoter Mick Hennessy said about the bout: "I'm very excited to be bringing professional boxing to the Glow for the first time, it is a fantastic arena, perfect for sporting events like boxing."

"The boxing fans who attend the show will not be disappointed, the evening will not only see the 2008 Olympic gold medallist James DeGale MBE make his Channel 5 debut but they will see some of the world's brightest young talent in action."

Doors on the day open on the day at 5pm, with the first fight starting at 5.30pm.

DeGale's opponent is yet to be announced and tickets start from £30.

For full ticket information go to www.hennessysports.com or call Hennessy Sports Box Office on 01925 75522/0844 888 4402.
