Does Fountains Retail Park in Tunbridge Wells have the worst car park ever designed? It's the question I've been asking myself for the last two hours.

That's because I've just spent those precious 120 minutes trying to navigate my way out of it and back onto the open road.

Normally, at this time of year, you may put it down to the 'pre-Christmas Rush', justifying the chaos that is everyone rushing to North Farm Retail Park (as it's now dubbed) to stock up on last minute pressies.

But you simply can't do that for Fountains - because, whilst the time you spend there may be slightly less outside of the festive period, it is always a massive hassle to get in and out.

One solution could be to send all the traffic immediately left on entering, diverting them via the back of KFC and Costa Coffee, and then into the car park.

That would allow people to exit the car park in a more orderly fashion, as it would be a simple one-way filtering process out.

Another answer could be to open up another vehicle entry/exit point, but I think this may cause yet more problems with congestion.

I guess that once Kent County Council gets its act together and actually works out how it will calm congestion around the entire estate, then that may have an effect.

But, at the very least and for the time being, I think the firm that manages Fountains should employ someone to direct the traffic when it is crazily busy as it is today.

The car park also has some over zealous parking wardens who think that they can hand out tickets to the unwary. If you have been given a ticket here this guide may be of use:
