Homes in Tunbridge Wells will start the stage one process of the digital switchover on May 30, 2012, giving households access to more than 40 Freeview channels through our aerials.

It will see the five terrestrial analogue channels, starting with BBC2, permanently switched off and the Freeview service, including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, extended.

South west Kent and the Tunbridge Wells area will start the stage one process (the BBC2 analogue switch-off) on May 30 and stage two, when all analogue channels are switched off, on June 13.

For the remainder of Kent, stages one and two will happen on June 13 and June 27 respectively.

But while nine out of 10 households in Kent are prepared – having already transferred their TVs – Digital UK, the organisation assisting in the switchover, said there are still some viewers who will need to convert their TV sets to digital to ensure they are capable of receiving services.

Help is at hand from Digital UK, which is inviting people to contact them with any queries. Viewers can get free independent advice on going digital by visiting www.digitaluk.co.uk or calling 08456 505050.
